We closed escrow on our first home the week Canaan was born and it was too chaotic try to move in right away, so we stayed at my parents for a few weeks. We were so excited to finally be in our home with our baby boy and it made December that much more enjoyable to have our first Christmas with our first baby in our first home. :)
We had fun picking out Canaan's first Christmas tree and he enjoyed the fun lights at the tree lot while we walked around. It was a pretty perfect night and after we got our tree decorated the following day, we could finally relax and enjoy the holidays in our new home. All of the memories I have from those December days are nothing short of magical. There is nothing like snuggling your newborn baby in the cold (well, California's version of cold;)) winter with a fresh Christmas and beautiful lights. My favorites days for sure.
Canaan's curiosity also started to bloom around 6 weeks old. He LOVED all of his "friends" we called them, from his bouncer and swing and would smile at them and stare so happily. It was the cutest thing to watch how giddy he would get every time he saw them.
We enjoyed a lot of snoozes and snuggle time during those "cold" December days.
What I want to remember most about our first Christmas as a family of three was just how much joy we felt with the gift of our son. We spent a lot of time reflecting on how much we love him and how God loves him more than we ever could. We are so grateful that God entrusted him to us.
Christmas was such a dream and we loved every minute of it. It's so crazy to imagine how we ever lived without Canaan. Seriously. How did we ever live without him? I cannot remember what life was like before him. I feel so complete with this little family of mine. They are my world.
We also celebrated Hanukkah with Carl's dad and step mom. Judaism is an important part of Carl's heritage and Hanukkah is something that we want to incorporate into our Christmas celebration so that our kids know their Jewish heritage and how Judaism is important in our Christian faith.
Canes is the most joyful baby. He doesn't cry (he whines here and there), drinks lots of milk, smiles for days, sleeps for 2-3 hours at a time, thinks his parents are pretty funny stuff, and brings more happiness to our family than words can express. Here are a few more pics from the month of December. :)
